Dr. Iain Moyer
Front Ensemble Arranger & Supervisor, The Cadets
Dr. Iain Moyer has been the Front Ensemble Supervisor/Arranger for The Cadets since 2009 and worked as a front ensemble technician for The Cadets in 2007 and 2008. In 2011, The Cadets won their 10th DCI World Championship and in 2013, The Cadets Percussion section received the Fred Sanford Award for Best Percussion Performance. His previous DCI experience also includes arranging and instructing positions at The Madison Scouts, The Glassmen, The Crossmen, and The Magic of Orlando. In addition, he is also the Front Ensemble Arranger for DCA’s The Cadets2, as well as Cadets Winter Percussion (CWP) and The Muscles Shoals Concert Percussion Ensemble in the WGI activity.
Moyer currently serves as the Director of Athletic Bands and Music Programs Recruiter at Widener University. As Director of Athletic Bands, he oversees all aspects of the Widener University Pep Band, which performs at home football and basketball games, along with other university events. In his role as a Music Programs Recruiter, he is responsible for recruiting high school students with a music background into Widener’s academic majors and placing them in one of the many Widener music ensembles.
Prior to coming to Widener, Iain served as the Director of Percussion Studies/Assistant Director of Bands at The University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama for ten years. Dr. Moyer’s Concert Percussion Ensembles at UNA were featured at numerous state and regional “Days of Percussion”. During his time at UNA, the “Pride of Dixie” Marching Percussion section was one of four featured collegiate groups to present a clinic at the 2013 PASIC Marching Percussion Festival and the UNA Marching band performed in exhibition at the 2013 BOA Grand Nationals competition. Additionally, The UNA Drumline won the 1st ever PASIC Drumline Battle at PASIC 2013.
Moyer received his Doctoral of Musical Arts and Masters Degrees in Percussion Performance from the University of Oklahoma, under the tutelage of Dr. Richard Gipson and Dr. Lance Drege. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts, under the tutelage of Dr. Peter Tanner, Thom Hannum, Eduardo Leandro, Tom Toner, and William Hanley. He has also performed in masterclasses and seminars with Leigh Howard Stevens, Gordon Stout, Evelyn Glennie, Michael Burritt, Robert Van Sice, She-e Wu, and Stanley Leonard.
